Lula maintains a commanding lead for first place in Maranhão’s October 4 first-round presidential vote, with state-level surveys from Quaest and Real Time Big Data showing him at 58–62% against single-digit or low-20s figures for rivals including Flávio Bolsonaro. This positioning stems from entrenched PT support across the Northeast, where federal approval ratings have remained above 60% and regional policy alignments favor the incumbent. Voter intentions appear largely settled, with 84% describing their choice as firm in recent fieldwork. National polling shows a closer contest overall, yet Maranhão’s structural lean limits upside for challengers. Late developments such as turnout shifts or unexpected alliances would need substantial scale to alter the current trader consensus reflected in the 97.7% pricing.
