Saudi Arabia has intensified its military role in Yemen amid the collapse of the 2022 ceasefire, launching airstrikes and providing air cover for Yemeni government forces in Operation Dawn of Yemen. On October 5, 2026, a Saudi-led coalition deployed around 100 fighter jets to target Houthi positions along the Red Sea coast, including near the Bab al-Mandeb Strait, while supporting ground advances by Yemeni-aligned units such as the Giants Brigades. Houthi forces had recently seized key coastal areas and launched missile and drone attacks on Saudi targets, prompting Riyadh to supply intelligence, targeting assistance, and military advisers. Direct large-scale Saudi ground troop deployments remain limited in public reporting, with emphasis instead on air operations, logistics, and coordination for local forces. Upcoming developments include potential further Houthi retaliation, diplomatic efforts to contain escalation, and any shifts in external support that could influence whether Riyadh escalates to broader ground involvement.
