Mark Brown, the incumbent Cook Islands Party leader and Prime Minister, holds an 89% implied probability as the next prime minister due to his party's parliamentary plurality after the 2022 election, recent preferred-leader polling showing him well ahead of rivals, and his active role chairing the Pacific Islands Forum. With the general election set for 12 August 2026, traders are pricing in continuity under Brown absent a major shift in seat outcomes or post-election coalition negotiations. Opposition figures Teariki Heather of the Cook Islands United Party and Tina Browne of the Democratic Party trail sharply at 7.5% and 4.3%, reflecting lower party support and limited pre-election coalition arrangements among opposition groups. The large field of other named candidates at 50% each appears to represent low-probability alternatives, underscoring the market's consensus around the current leadership dynamics in this closely watched parliamentary contest.
