Apple faces significant regulatory and political barriers to sourcing DRAM from ChangXin Memory Technologies (CXMT) despite ongoing qualification testing of its chips for potential China-market devices. Bipartisan congressional pressure, including letters from senators warning against reliance on a Pentagon-blacklisted supplier with alleged military ties, has intensified scrutiny of Apple's lobbying for Trump administration clearance amid global memory shortages. Recent reports indicate CXMT rejected Apple's requests for discounted pricing due to robust domestic demand from Huawei and Xiaomi, while competitors like Micron have pushed back to protect U.S. production. These headwinds, combined with national security concerns and the absence of finalized commercial commitments, underpin traders' 75.5% implied probability against a 2026 purchase. Key near-term catalysts include any administration rulings on export restrictions or further supply-chain negotiations.
