Dune: Part Three leads trader sentiment at 54% implied probability for the 2027 Oscars Best Visual Effects race, propelled by the franchise’s back-to-back category wins and Denis Villeneuve’s track record of large-scale world-building set for a December 18, 2026 IMAX release. Project Hail Mary’s 26% reflects its earlier March debut and roughly 2,000 VFX shots blending practical puppetry with digital work, while The Odyssey at 11% and Godzilla Minus Zero at 10% face headwinds from Nolan’s practical-effects emphasis and creature-feature precedents. Numerous other 2026 titles sit near 50% amid thin liquidity and the long run-up to nominations; guild shortlists and late-year reviews will likely sharpen distinctions in this wide-open field.
