Magnus Carlsen leads the Norway Chess 2026 field as the clear favorite, driven by his 2840 rating, seven prior tournament titles, and status as world number one entering the May 25–June 5 double round-robin in Oslo. His recent victory in the 2026 FIDE Freestyle World Championship underscores sustained classical form after a scaled-back schedule, reinforcing trader consensus around his 64% implied probability. Vincent Keymer’s debut and strong recent results place him second at 13%, while Alireza Firouzja, Gukesh Dommaraju, Wesley So, and Praggnanandhaa Rameshbabu sit between 8–10% on the strength of their elite ratings and head-to-head history against Carlsen. The six-player lineup features multiple 2750+ grandmasters, making every classical encounter decisive amid the Armageddon tiebreak format.
