Jaxson Dart, the New York Giants’ second-year quarterback, suffered a season-ending left knee injury during Week 2 against the Rams on September 21, 2026, requiring surgery to repair a torn meniscus and MCL. He appeared in just two regular-season games, completing 26 of 34 passes for 250 yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions before the injury. Jameis Winston has taken over as starter, shifting the offense toward a more conservative, run-heavy approach with targets funneled to players like Malik Nabers. Dart’s prior rookie-year rushing production and Year 2 development under new coaching are now irrelevant for the remainder of the 2026 regular season, with his return timeline projected at 4-6 months.
