Green Party challenger Zoë Garbett holds a slim lead over Labour incumbent Caroline Woodley in trader consensus for Hackney's May 7 mayoral election, mirroring a recent JL Partners MRP poll showing Greens at 40% and Labour at 33% in concurrent council races. This tight contest stems from surging Green support amid voter frustration with Labour's record on housing shortages, low traffic neighbourhoods, and council services, eroding the party's traditional dominance in the left-leaning borough. Minor candidates trail far behind, concentrating the race on the left vote split. Separation could arise from turnout dynamics—historically low at under 35%—final get-out-the-vote efforts, or endorsements before polls close.
