California's newly redrawn 6th congressional district held its June 2 top-two primary following Proposition 50 redistricting and the departure of incumbent Democrat Ami Bera to a neighboring seat. Former Republican representative Kevin Kiley, who switched to no party preference, competed against Republican Michael Stansfield and several Democrats including former state senator and physician Richard Pan, Sacramento County District Attorney Thien Ho, and others. Early vote tallies showed Kiley ahead, with Stansfield and Pan also competitive for the two advancement spots under California's nonpartisan primary rules. Final certified results and any remaining absentee or provisional ballots will determine the general election matchup on November 3.
