Gerlando Alonge holds a strong lead in the Agrigento mayoral runoff market due to center-right coalition consolidation after the first round. Michele Sodano, backed by the united center-left Controcorrente-PD alliance, topped the May 24-25 ballot with roughly 39 percent but fell short of the threshold for outright victory. Alonge, supported by Fratelli d’Italia, Forza Italia and allied lists, secured about 35 percent amid a split center-right field. In the June 7-8 runoff, traders appear to price in typical Italian municipal patterns where the trailing candidate often gains from transfers of votes from eliminated center-right contenders and from Agrigento’s historical moderate leanings. No major new campaign events have altered this positioning in recent days.
