The Chicago Cubs (35-34) enter their upcoming series at Oracle Park against the San Francisco Giants (28-41) after dropping two of three in extra innings at Wrigley Field earlier this month, including a lopsided 18-3 Giants victory fueled by offensive outbursts. San Francisco has shown recent momentum with strong starting pitching and contributions from hitters like Jung Hoo Lee during an extended hitting streak, while Chicago has dealt with bullpen inconsistencies and placed starter Jameson Taillon on the injured list. Both clubs sit near the middle of their respective divisions, with the Cubs holding a slight edge in overall record but facing challenges on the road; the Giants benefit from home-field familiarity at a pitcher-friendly venue. Weather and specific starter matchups will influence game scripts in this interleague set.
