Donna Vekic enters as the No. 2 seed in Credit One Charleston Open qualifiers with a WTA ranking of 117 and 6-7 year-to-date record, facing a sharp underdog in Sachia Vickery at No. 704 with a 2-5 mark, driving trader consensus toward the Croatian on green clay despite her recent early exits in Miami, Indian Wells, and Austin 125. Vickery holds a 1-0 head-to-head edge from a 2023 US Open upset win on hard courts, but lacks Vekic's experience and power baseline game suited to the slower Har-Tru surface. No reported injuries affect either, though Vekic's form dip tempers expectations amid coastal spring conditions and Vickery's home-country motivation in this Round 1 qualifier matchup scheduled for March 28.
