Renata Zarazua holds a decided edge as the No. 90-ranked player facing Sloane Stephens (No. 717) in the Credit One Charleston Open first round on green clay, bolstered by a 2-0 head-to-head record including a straight-sets win over Stephens at the January 2026 ASB Classic. Zarazua's steadier 2026 form (10-11 overall) contrasts Stephens' injury-plagued comeback (4-5 YTD), though the American showed resilience with a Miami Open second-round run after defeating fellow wild card Jennifer Brady. Stephens boasts Charleston history as a past champion and home-crowd support, but her low ranking and recent losses reflect ongoing recovery challenges from a 2025 foot stress fracture. No injury concerns or weather delays reported ahead of Monday's match.
