Ashlyn Krueger and Caty McNally, both Americans ranked around the top 80 (Krueger No. 79, McNally No. 72), meet in the Credit One Charleston Open second round on green clay March 30, with McNally leading their head-to-head 2-1, including a recent straight-sets win over Krueger in the ATX Open first round on hard courts last month. Krueger impressed by upsetting Elina Svitolina in Indian Wells/Miami before a third-round loss to Dayana Yastremska, while McNally fell early to Aryna Sabalenka in Miami; both seek a clay breakthrough after limited recent red dirt exposure. McNally edges clay records (48-33 career), but Krueger's rising form and power game suit the slower surface, making this a closely contested matchup amid Charleston's strong American field.
