With the 2026 MLB season underway, the Mets head to Oracle Park for a four-game series against the host Giants starting April 2, following New York's opening-day win over Pittsburgh (11-7 on March 26) and San Francisco's 0-3 loss to the Yankees on March 27. Both clubs enter with thin pitching depth after spring training injuries: Mets missing outfielder Mike Tauchman (meniscus surgery), reliever A.J. Minter (15-day IL, lat), and starters Tylor Megill/Reed Garrett (60-day IL, elbows); Giants without Hayden Birdsong (60-day IL, forearm/UCL), plus relievers Sam Hentges, Joel Peguero (recent 15-day ILs). Nolan McLean is the Mets' probable for April 3 (Giants TBD), with New York holding a 6-4 edge in recent head-to-head matchups. Home-field advantage and Oracle's pitcher-friendly dimensions could factor heavily.
