Roman Safiullin and Pablo Llamas Ruiz advanced to the Alicante Challenger semifinals with dominant straight-set quarterfinal victories yesterday—Safiullin over Max Houkes 6-4, 6-1, and Llamas Ruiz topping Edas Butvilas 6-1, 6-2—continuing their flawless runs through the draw on outdoor hard courts. The higher-ranked Llamas Ruiz (#191) holds home-crowd edge and a four-match win streak, while former top-40 Safiullin (#216) marks his first semifinal of 2026 after straight-set defeats of Jan Choinski and Gilles Arnaud Bailly. No prior head-to-head exists; stylistic matchup favors baseline grinders, with minimal fatigue from efficient wins and no reported injuries shaping trader consensus on this competitive clash.
