Hugo Dellien, ranked No. 159 with a career-high of 64, holds a head-to-head edge over Eduardo Ribeiro (No. 168, career-high 168) from prior clay Challenger clashes, including straight-set wins in 2023 Curitiba and Campinas events. Both arrive off mixed clay results in recent South American Challengers: Dellien advanced through qualifiers in Sao Paulo last week before a round-of-32 exit to Tomas Barrios Vera, while Ribeiro, a Brazilian local, reached the main draw there via retirement win but lost to Roman Andres Burruchaga. Dellien enters on a wild card announced March 28, facing Ribeiro likely from qualifying in this round-of-32 opener on outdoor red clay at the São Léo Open. Home crowd support and altitude familiarity could boost Ribeiro, though Dellien's experience tips trader consensus toward the Bolivian in this competitive first-round matchup.
