Nicolas Mejia enters as trader consensus favorite over Alex Hernandez in the San Luis Potosi Challenger Round of 32 on outdoor clay, reflecting his superior ATP ranking around No. 185 versus Hernandez's No. 439 and a 3-1 head-to-head edge, including a decisive 6-3, 6-2 win in this same event's opening round last April. Hernandez, a Mexican wild card playing at home, notched revenge with a 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 upset over Mejia on hard courts in Morelia last March, but both arrive in lukewarm form—Mejia 6-17 year-to-date, Hernandez 2-4—amid no reported injuries or withdrawals. Clay surface suits Mejia's experience at Challenger level, though Hernandez could leverage crowd support and recent momentum in a closely contested matchup.
