No. 19 seed Diana Shnaider enters as the clear favorite against No. 86 Katie Volynets in the Credit One Charleston Open Round of 32 on green clay, bolstered by a 2-0 head-to-head lead including a dominant 6-1, 6-4 clay win in Madrid last year. Shnaider's higher ranking, left-handed game, and strong serve protection (71% hold rate) underpin trader consensus, while her 8-7 2026 record reflects solid top-20 form. Volynets gained momentum with a gritty three-set comeback over Eva Lys in the first round, winning 12 of the final 13 games for her first clay win this year (11-8 overall), but faces an uphill battle amid home-crowd support at Credit One Stadium. No injury concerns reported; weather holds fair for outdoor play.
