In the Copa Colsanitas qualifying first round on Bogota's high-altitude clay courts, 17-year-old Russian Alisa Oktiabreva (WTA No. 284, seeded No. 9) holds a ranking edge over 25-year-old American Lea Ma (No. 313, seeded No. 8) in their head-to-head debut. Oktiabreva rides hot form with an 11-3 YTD record and 30-6 over the past 52 weeks, boasting a 23-3 clay mark in Challenger/ITF events, including recent upsets over Susan Bandecchi and Lola Radivojevic. Ma sits at 9-6 YTD but has lost her last three matches amid mixed ITF results. No injuries noted; altitude favors big hitters as the ball flies faster, with the draw released hours ago confirming the matchup scheduled for today.
