Incumbent Rep. Vicente Gonzalez secured the Democratic nomination in the March 3 primary for Texas's newly redrawn 34th Congressional District, setting up a general election rematch-like contest against Republican Eric Flores, a Trump-endorsed former federal prosecutor who decisively won his primary over ex-Rep. Mayra Flores. Mid-decade redistricting in 2025 incorporated Corpus Christi and military-heavy areas, shifting the district from safe Democratic to one of the nation's most competitive House races per Cook Political Report, building on Gonzalez's narrow 51%-49% 2024 victory. Trader consensus reflects Gonzalez's incumbency advantage and fundraising edge amid GOP gains with South Texas Hispanic voters, with the November 3 ballot looming amid a slim Republican House majority.
