Severe weather disruptions, including heavy snow and wind across the Midwest and Northeast, have triggered over 800 U.S. flight cancellations on March 24 as of afternoon reports, far exceeding the 240 threshold and cementing trader consensus at 98.9% for Yes. Southwest Airlines bore the brunt with more than 400 scrubs after an FAA-mandated ground stop, compounded by Delta and United ripples totaling triple digits each. Real-time trackers like FlightAware confirm the scale, with ripple effects from ongoing winter storms mirroring past high-impact events like the 2023 Blizzard Blackout. Realistic upsets are negligible—barring an unprecedented recovery wave before midnight ET—but traders should monitor final tallies from official DOT data for resolution.
