The Toronto Maple Leafs face the San Jose Sharks at SAP Center amid critical wild card battles, with both teams at 77 points—Leafs ninth in the East (32-30-13, 5-3-2 last 10), Sharks third in the West (35-31-7, 4-5-1 last 10). Leafs' offense hampered by Auston Matthews' season-ending MCL injury and Chris Tanev's groin issue, relying on William Nylander and John Tavares lines with Anthony Stolarz in net. Sharks boast home-ice edge and momentum from Macklin Celebrini's four-point outburst in their 4-3 comeback win over Anaheim yesterday, starting Alex Nedeljkovic after Yaroslav Askarov's strong relief. San Jose leads season series 1-0; Toronto's recent road resilience tested against Sharks' urgent playoff push and youth-driven attack.
