Incumbent Democrat Don Davis seeks a third term in North Carolina’s 1st congressional district against Republican Laurie Buckhout in their 2024 rematch. The Republican-controlled legislature redrew boundaries in October 2025, shifting the district several points to the right and prompting Cook Political Report to rate it lean Republican. Davis won narrowly in both prior cycles under previous maps. Recent polling, including an NRCC-sponsored survey from late April, showed a tight contest with Republicans holding a slim edge or parity. Primaries concluded in March, with Davis unopposed on the Democratic side and Buckhout securing the Republican nomination. Traders appear to weigh Davis’s incumbency and name recognition against the altered electoral math, producing a narrow consensus favoring the Democratic outcome in the November general election.
