With nine new head coaches installed amid the 2026 MLS offseason carousel—including Javier Mascherano continuing at defending MLS Cup champion Inter Miami, Mikey Varas extended at expansion standout San Diego FC, Ben Olsen tasked with elevating Houston Dynamo, and Cameron Knowles promoted at Minnesota United—trader sentiment remains tightly bunched at ~42% implied probabilities for the top contenders entering Matchday 6. Early power rankings highlight parity: San Diego's undefeated run features a 5-0 opener and recent 2-2 draw versus Real Salt Lake despite a red card; Houston's resilient 3-2 comebacks contrast a 4-3 Texas Derby loss; Inter Miami rebounds from Concacaf Champions Cup elimination by Nashville via Messi's free-kick heroics; Minnesota grinds draws and a first win. No team dominates standings, fueling a wide-open Coach of the Year race reflective of the wisdom of crowds.
