The Miami Marlins enter their upcoming series against the St. Louis Cardinals with momentum from a 4-1 early-season start atop the NL East standings, fueled by strong pitching and timely hitting despite injuries to outfielder Kyle Stowers (strained hamstring) and Christopher Morel (strained oblique). The Cardinals sit at 3-2 in the NL Central, navigating outfielder Lars Nootbaar's ongoing recovery from oblique surgery and pitching ailments like Matt Pushard's knee issue, while leaning on their veteran lineup for consistency. This matchup at retractable-roof loanDepot park favors pitchers, with historical head-to-head even (Marlins 92-138 all-time, 3-3 in 2025); trader consensus reflects the Marlins' home edge and hot form against the Cardinals' injury concerns and road challenges in the series opener April 20.
