The Democratic incumbent Kristen McDonald Rivet, who captured the seat in 2024 with 51.3 percent of the vote, anchors trader sentiment in Michigan’s 8th Congressional District. Early fundraising reports show her campaign raising substantial sums, while Republican primary contenders including Amir Hassan, Al Lemmo, and Thomas J. Smith have yet to consolidate support. Nonpartisan ratings from Cook Political Report, Inside Elections, and Sabato’s Crystal Ball classify the race as Lean or Likely Democratic, reflecting the district’s R+1 Partisan Voter Index and the structural advantages of incumbency ahead of the August 4 primaries and November general election.
