Iran leads AFC Group A standings in 2026 FIFA World Cup third-round qualifying after a commanding 4-0 home win over UAE on October 15, extending an unbeaten run with the league's best defensive record at just two goals conceded in five matches. Uzbekistan sits second following their 1-0 victory over North Korea the same day, keeping pressure on with identical points but inferior goal difference. No official FIFA sanctions or bans loom despite Middle East tensions, as past anthem disputes were resolved swiftly. Upcoming November fixtures against Qatar and Uzbekistan will test Iran's top-two path for direct qualification; a stumble could force fourth-round playoffs against teams like Australia or Saudi Arabia. Trader consensus reflects Iran's form dominance, prioritizing on-pitch risks over geopolitical speculation.

This market will resolve to "Yes" if Iran is officially disqualified, banned, withdrawn, or otherwise confirmed not to participate in the 2026 FIFA World Cup by March 31, 2026. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No".
For the purposes of resolution, a qualifying announcement made on or before March 31, 2026, will suffice, regardless of whether Iran ultimately participates in the tournament thereafter.
"Confirmed to not participate" is defined as an official announcement by FIFA, the Iranian Football Federation, or a governing body resulting in Iran's removal from the tournament, whether due to disqualification, withdrawal, suspension, or any other reason.
The resolution source will be official announcements from FIFA or the Iranian Football Federation, however a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.
