Incumbent Democratic Representative Eric Sorensen, who won reelection in 2024 by about five points, secured the Democratic nomination unopposed in the March 2026 primary for Illinois’ 17th congressional district. Republican nominee Dillan Vancil emerged from a contested primary to challenge him in the November general election. The district carries a modest Democratic tilt according to partisan voting indexes and recent results, supporting trader consensus around an 83.5% implied probability for a Democratic hold. No major developments have altered the race since the primaries concluded more than two months ago.
