Incumbent Republican Clay Higgins maintains a dominant position in Louisiana’s 3rd congressional district for the November 3, 2026, majority-vote primary. The solidly Republican-leaning district and Higgins’ prior general-election margins above 70 percent establish a high bar for challengers. Multiple Democratic candidates, including John Day, Tia LeBrun, and Caleb Walker, plus limited Republican opposition, are expected to fragment the non-incumbent vote. The shift to the November first-round date after the Supreme Court’s congressional map ruling has not materially changed the candidate field or competitive dynamics. These factors underpin trader consensus that Higgins is likely to secure an outright majority on election night, avoiding a December 12 runoff.
