New Zealand's pace attack, led by Blair Tickner's 4/40 and Nathan Smith's 3/45, sparked Bangladesh's middle-order collapse to secure a 26-run victory in the 1st ODI at Mirpur, giving the Black Caps a 1-0 series lead after posting 247/8. Despite this, trader consensus prices Bangladesh at 60% to win the three-match ODI series, reflecting the hosts' strong home record at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium, superior squad depth under Mehidy Hasan Miraz, and New Zealand's inexperienced lineup missing IPL-bound stars like Rachin Ravindra. Mustafizur Rahman's knee injury sidelined him for the opener—Shoriful Islam impressed with 2/27—but his potential return bolsters Bangladesh's bowling for the 2nd ODI on April 20 in Dhaka, with Chattogram hosting the decider amid spin-friendly pitches.
