Chennai Super Kings face a mounting injury crisis heading into their IPL showdown against Mumbai Indians at Wankhede Stadium on April 23, with pacers Khaleel Ahmed ruled out for the season due to a quadriceps tear, Nathan Ellis sidelined, Spencer Johnson unavailable until later, and MS Dhoni's calf strain casting doubt on his participation despite Dewald Brevis's return. CSK have gained momentum with back-to-back wins over KKR (by 32 runs) and DC (by 23 runs), leapfrogging struggling MI—who sit ninth in the points table after a seven-wicket loss to PBKS—into eighth place. MI benefit from home advantage on the batting-friendly Wankhede pitch, but Rohit Sharma's hamstring concern looms large in this storied rivalry where MI lead head-to-head 22-19, though CSK won five of the last six encounters. Toss and dew could sway the chase-heavy venue.
