In the ATP 250 Bucharest Open final on clay, seventh seed Mariano Navone (#60) faces qualifier Daniel Merida Aguilar (#136) in a first-time matchup, with Navone seeking his first title in his third Tour-level final and Merida chasing a breakthrough in his debut. Navone advanced yesterday by saving two match points in a grueling 3-hour-31-minute semifinal win over Botic van de Zandschulp (5-7, 7-6(3), 7-5), extending his strong 6-3 clay record this year, while the 21-year-old Spaniard continued his improbable run—saving 17 break points to upset Fabian Marozsan in semis after qualifying. Navone's baseline consistency and clay pedigree contrast Merida's height advantage (188cm) and momentum, though fatigue from deep runs could factor on outdoor courts.
