Belgian Raphael Collignon, seeded No. 1 and riding a career-high ATP No. 65 ranking, enters the Monza Challenger first round on outdoor clay as the clear trader favorite against Christopher O'Connell (No. 128), buoyed by his Miami breakthrough last week where he upset Grigor Dimitrov before falling to top seeds. O'Connell, an Australian with a one-handed backhand, has struggled recently, dropping straight-sets decisions on clay in Bucharest and earlier losses amid a 1-3 skid in 2026. No head-to-head history exists, but Collignon's taller frame (6'3") and two-handed backhand suit clay grinding, while O'Connell's shorter stature (6'0") and form dip temper upset potential absent late withdrawals or weather disruptions.
