In the U.S. Men's Clay Court Championships qualifying final at River Oaks Country Club, No. 163 Alex Bolt faces No. 223 Andres Andrade in their first head-to-head matchup on green clay. Both advanced yesterday—Bolt rallied past American alt Alex Rybakov 5-7, 6-2, 6-4 in three sets, while Andrade dispatched Stefan Dostanic in straight sets. Andrade, a clay specialist with a 72-45 Challenger/ITF record on the surface, enters off mixed Morelia Challenger results (R1 win, R16 loss) last week. Bolt's higher ranking and left-handed game provide edge, but Andrade's regional clay affinity and fresher straight-sets win fuel trader consensus for a competitive bout ahead of main draw entry.
