In the Grand Prix Hassan II on outdoor clay in Marrakech, top-110 Frenchmen Luca Van Assche (#106) and Hugo Gaston (#107) meet for the first time in a likely round-of-32 matchup scheduled for March 30. Van Assche enters with momentum from his February Challenger Lille title—propelling him back into the top 100—and a Miami qualifying win over Benjamin Willwerth before falling to Yannick Hanfmann last week. Gaston notched a Thionville Challenger round-of-16 comeback over Keegan Smith but holds a modest 6-11 clay record this year amid ATP struggles. Gaston's lefty spin and clay pedigree face Van Assche's baseline power and junior Roland Garros pedigree in a toss-up reflecting trader consensus on evenly matched form.
