Trader consensus positions Fabiano Caruana as the 31% implied probability leader for the 2026 FIDE Candidates Tournament winner, bolstered by his world No. 3 Elo rating, six prior appearances including the 2018 victory, and early qualification via the 2024 FIDE Circuit. Hikaru Nakamura trails at 20% on his No. 2 rating spot despite expert skepticism like Nepomniachtchi's critique of his limited recent classical play amid rapid dominance. Rising talents Javokhir Sindarov (15.5%) and Praggnanandhaa R (12.5%) gain from strong 2025 FIDE Circuit and Grand Swiss results, while Anish Giri and Wei Yi (both 9.5%) draw on consistent elite form. Recent March rating list and pre-event prep in Cyprus underscore a tight double round-robin field starting March 29, with no major withdrawals.
