Mercedes' dominant start to the 2026 F1 season under new regulations has propelled teammates George Russell and Kimi Antonelli to the top of trader consensus, with Russell leading the drivers' standings at 51 points after a win in Australia and strong podiums, while rookie Antonelli sits second on 47 points following his breakthrough victory in China. The W17's superior power unit and race pace have delivered 1-2 finishes in the opening rounds, leaving Ferrari's Charles Leclerc (34 points) and Lewis Hamilton (33 points) trailing, amid Red Bull and McLaren's reliability woes that have hampered Max Verstappen and Lando Norris. Heading into the Japanese Grand Prix, Russell's FP1 pace and experience edge give him a 49% implied probability, with Antonelli at 30.3% reflecting his raw speed but potential for rookie errors over the 24-race campaign.
