Raphaël Glucksmann leads the Socialist Party primary at 67% amid trader consensus on his stronger polling in national surveys and endorsements from centrist-left figures ahead of the October 2026 vote. His late-August announcement positioned him as the main social-democratic contender for the 2027 presidential race, emphasizing pro-European policies and ecological transition. Olivier Faure’s subsequent entry at 21.5% reflects his role as PS first secretary and established party base, though it introduced competition that narrowed Glucksmann’s prior advantage. Lower probabilities for candidates such as Ségolène Royal, Philippe Brun, and others align with limited recent momentum or narrower support within the primary electorate. The two-round process, concluding mid-October, remains the key near-term catalyst.
