The surge of new August releases on Netflix, including the sci-fi thriller The Last House starring Greta Lee and Wagner Moura, is the main driver shaping expectations for this week's #1 movie views. As a fresh original, it has quickly climbed charts with strong initial engagement metrics, outpacing holdovers and licensed titles like Spider-Man entries. Traders monitor weekly Tudum rankings closely, since view counts reflect global streaming hours rather than just U.S. performance, and competition from upcoming drops such as Don't Say Good Luck (Aug 14) or Freefall (Aug 19) could accelerate or dilute the leader's totals. Historical patterns show originals often peak early before audience fatigue sets in, making the next chart update a key swing factor.
