Senate confirmation of Todd Blanche as attorney general occurred on an overnight 50-49 party-line vote early on August 8, 2026, after the Senate Judiciary Committee advanced the nomination on August 4 by a 12-10 margin. The tally reflected unified Democratic opposition alongside two Republican defections and one absence, with last-minute support from key GOP senators proving decisive for reaching the simple majority threshold required for confirmation. Trader consensus at exactly 50 senators reflects the confirmed outcome and limited room for procedural shifts once floor consideration concluded. Late developments such as additional absences, unexpected absences during the roll call, or successful motions to reconsider could have altered the final count, though none materialized before adjournment.
