Trump's job approval rating has remained mired near record lows for his second term amid sustained U.S. military involvement in the conflict with Iran, with recent Reuters/Ipsos and other polling showing approval at 33-40% and widespread public concern that the engagement will drag on. This has coincided with elevated gasoline prices tied to disruptions in global oil flows through the Strait of Hormuz, weighing on household costs and broader economic sentiment. Daily tracking data through mid-to-late August reflect little upward movement, reinforcing trader consensus reflected in the near-certain odds on a weekly decline. A sudden diplomatic breakthrough yielding a verifiable ceasefire or sharp drop in energy costs could still shift the weekly reading, though such developments have proved elusive in recent months.

If no data point is published for the first reference date, the most recent prior day with a published data point will be used instead.
If no data point is published for the second reference date by 12:00 PM ET on the third calendar day after that date, the most recent prior day with a published data point will be used instead.
