Elon Musk has discussed folding Tesla and SpaceX together in recent conversations with colleagues, reigniting merger speculation as SpaceX prepares its record IPO filing targeting a $1.75 trillion valuation. The companies already share operational ties, including SpaceX purchases of Tesla Megapack systems and joint plans for an advanced semiconductor facility, while overlapping ambitions in artificial intelligence, robotics, and satellite connectivity create natural synergies. No definitive agreement has been reached, with all reports describing early-stage internal talks rather than binding commitments. Key near-term catalysts include the anticipated SpaceX public listing and any post-IPO strategic updates from Musk, whose voting control in both entities positions him to drive consolidation if regulatory and shareholder hurdles can be cleared.

An announcement by Tesla or SpaceX within this market's timeframe will qualify for a "Yes" resolution, regardless of whether or when the announced acquisition/merger actually occurs.
Announcements of partial sales may count, as long as the acquiring company acquires a controlling interest in the other company. A “controlling interest” refers to a change in ownership sufficient to control the company’s strategic decisions (typically more than 50% of equity, or equivalent control via voting and governance rights). Transactions or investments that do not result in a transfer of controlling interest will not count.
The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from Tesla or SpaceX; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.
