Recent BLS data showing the U.S. city average price for a dozen Grade A large eggs at $2.14 in June 2026—down from $2.19 in May and $2.25 in April—anchors trader consensus around the $2.00–$2.25 range. Supply recovery following 2025 highly pathogenic avian influenza losses has expanded layer flocks, pressuring wholesale prices sharply lower and transmitting to retail levels amid stable feed costs and moderate demand. Market-implied odds reflect this trajectory, with traders pricing in continued moderation absent new disruptions. A resurgence in avian flu culling or sharp rises in corn and soybean meal prices could lift costs and shift the distribution, while further flock rebuilding would reinforce downside pressure through the July reporting period.
