The Odyssey holds the market lead at 53.5% implied probability, driven by its July 2026 release and Hoyte van Hoytema’s pioneering all-IMAX 70mm cinematography—the first feature shot entirely on the format—earning widespread critical praise for its scale, practical sequences, and technical ambition following Christopher Nolan’s prior win in the category for Oppenheimer. With nominations still months away in January 2027, the crowded field of other titles at or near 50% reflects limited late-2026 release data and the absence of guild or critics’ circle signals, creating a fluid race where box-office momentum and early reviews currently outweigh unproven campaigns. Dune: Part Three remains the clearest long-term rival at 24.5% ahead of its December debut, while lower-priced options like Project Hail Mary face steeper barriers in building comparable visual narratives.
