If the results of this election are not definitively known by December 31, 2026, this market will resolve to “Other.” This market will resolve based on the results of the primary election for Governor of California as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve based solely on the official results as reported by the government of California, specifically the Office of the Secretary of State.Recent Emerson College and Inside California Politics polling released May 13-14 shows former Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra surging to a narrow lead in California's June 2 gubernatorial primary, with 28-32% support among likely voters, boosting his trader consensus at 48% for first place under the top-two system. Billionaire Democrat Tom Steyer holds second at around 22% amid heavy self-funding, while Republican Steve Hilton trails closely at 20% by capitalizing on a fragmented Democratic field in the deep-blue state. Katie Porter and Riverside Sheriff Chad Bianco lag amid viral debate moments and limited endorsements; early voting is underway, with potential shifts from Nancy Pelosi or Kamala Harris backing and final rallies before the nonpartisan primary advances the top two to November.
