**Recent economic data and consensus forecasts position the 0.4% and 0.3% month-over-month outcomes as the leading probabilities for the August 2026 US CPI release scheduled for September 11.** July's CPI rose a modest 0.1% MoM (headline) and 0.2% MoM (core), with the year-over-year headline rate easing to 3.4%, reflecting cooling energy pressures after earlier spikes. Analysts now anticipate a rebound in August, with gasoline prices expected to rise for the first time in several months alongside firm shelter and services components, producing headline prints clustered around 0.3–0.4% MoM. Market-implied odds align closely with these forecasts, as traders incorporate the latest BLS data, nowcasts, and component trends while acknowledging the inherent uncertainty in volatile categories like energy. The closely spaced probabilities for 0.3% and 0.4% underscore the data-dependent nature of the outcome ahead of the report.
