**Nominations for the 2026 MTV VMAs Best Alternative category, announced in mid-August, feature a balanced seven-song field that has produced closely matched trader sentiment ahead of the September 27 ceremony.** Olivia Rodrigo’s “the cure” holds the highest implied probability at 41.5%, reflecting her established alt-pop crossover appeal and strong streaming metrics, while Tame Impala’s “Dracula” sits at 25% on the strength of its psychedelic indie credentials. Twenty One Pilots’ “Drag Path,” mgk & Fred Durst’s “Fix Ur Face,” Sombr’s “Homewrecker,” and Noah Kahan’s “The Great Divide” cluster in the mid-teens, underscoring the lack of a clear frontrunner. Geese’s “Taxes” trails at 4.5%. With fan voting open through Instagram Stories in the final week and the show just days away, the market reflects uncertainty over how late momentum, genre authenticity narratives, and voter turnout will resolve among the nominees.
