The heavily Democratic composition of New Jersey’s 8th congressional district, rated D+15 on the Cook Partisan Voter Index with strong urban voter registration advantages, has anchored trader consensus on the Democratic nominee at 92.5 percent. Incumbent Rob Menendez holds a clear edge in the June 2 Democratic primary, backed by fundraising, county endorsements, and April polling leads over challenger Mussab Ali, while no Republican has filed for either the primary or November general election. Historical margins exceeding 50 points in prior cycles reinforce expectations of continued Democratic control. A realistic shift would require an upset in the Democratic primary that alters candidate positioning or an unusually strong national Republican wave capable of overcoming the district’s partisan lean and low GOP registration.
