Early in the 2026 MLS regular season past matchday 7, trader consensus highlights league parity with Inter Miami CF (16.5%) leading on Lionel Messi's influence and a five-game unbeaten streak after an opening loss to LAFC, though a 2-2 home draw against New York Red Bulls last weekend curbed momentum amid a middling 3-1-3 Eastern Conference record. LAFC (14.5%) held a perfect start before their first defeat—a 2-1 road loss to Portland Timbers on April 11—knocking them from power ranking tops despite elite defense conceding zero goals prior. Vancouver Whitecaps (9.0%) surged to No. 1 in power rankings with a dominant 7-1-0 West mark and potent attack (19 goals), while Nashville SC tops the Supporters' Shield race at 16 points; San Diego FC's (5.1%) expansion hype adds depth to a tight field where form, table position, and playoff paths remain fluid over 34 matches.
